Reiki is non-invasive and is considered a system of natural healing and it is now used as part of pastoral care in the UK's national health service to ease people as they near the end of their life. Groups are researching to build an adequate evidence base to show reiki is of benefit to those who are less seriously ill and introduce reiki as publicly available treatment.
Reiki is a great stress-reducer and can be utilised as a part of a self-care routine.
It helps us to balance and vitalise.

Reiki can be used safely by a practitioner at any time to help a person or animals innate healing systems work to their full potential.
This accounts for physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects - many people release blocked emotions with reiki.
Reiki practitioners do not heal, the reiki is taken on by yourself from the practitioner who is a channel for reiki, to assist your own healing system.
If an illness is caused by an imbalance of your energy, reiki can assist as it works on the whole person to bring harmony.
Reiki is not a replacement for medical treatment, some issues will need medicine or hospital therapy.
A full treatment reopens your chakras and re-balances the flow of energy around your body.
Reiki combines very well with other therapies and treatments, and orthodox medical care, especially post-operative as part of a recovery program.
The only caveat is that it cannot be performed safely if you have a pacemaker or have diabetes and do not check blood daily as it can make blood sugar drop.
To prepare for your Reiki Treatment:
Please wear loose/comfortable clothing. You will be removing your shoes and glasses so please bear this in mind. Let Sophie know before-hand if you would prefer to not have incense or oil burning in the room, and if you would prefer silence, or music.
If you have not experienced reiki before, it is difficult to know how you will feel during or after a treatment & each person reacts in a different way and there is no right or wrong way to feel. Common reactions include warmth, cool sensations, tingling, pulsating, release of emotion, feeling calm, peaceful, loved, alive, lighter, more grounded... Reiki tends to do what it is you need. It is usually a very interesting and even liberating experience.
